We are looking for creative and enthusiastic individuals to work with us as Summer Literacy Tutors. A Literacy Tutor’s job is to help local kids ages 3-8 build on important early literacy skills while having fun in an engaging, low-pressure environment.
Summary: Reporting to the Children’s Librarian/Assistant Librarian, Literacy Tutors are responsible for providing literacy training to children ages 3-8.
Job posting opening date: Tuesday, April 4, 2023
Job posting closing date: Friday, April 21, 2023 at 12pm
Hours: This is a temporary position. Up to 35 hours/week. Some weekends and evenings required.
Wage: Band 3, Step 1 – $16.53/hour
Contract Term: June 19, 2023 – August 25, 2023. June training dates TBD.
Required qualifications:
- Experience working with young children, preferably in a literacy-related role.
- Ability to create attractive and creative program displays.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and library staff.
- Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Reference Check (dated within 6 months)
Desired qualifications: Knowledge of literacy training and techniques. Coursework in education. Current First Aid/CPR certificate.
