How is it almost August? We have so much still to come–and one of our favourite events is happening next week and it’s not even for kids! Read on….
Monday, July 31
“Musical Theatre Dance Class” – 10-11am, Ages 10-12–We had a fun dance class last summer and we’re bringing it back for the younger crowd. No dance experience necessary, but your young dancer will love this fun session that aims to teach us a whole routine we can perform at the end. Prepare to have fun!
Registration takes place here. Parents, if your child can’t come after registering for this event, please let us know so we can open it up to another participant.
Tuesday, August 1
“Slime Time” – 10-11am, Ages 6-8–The slime craze continues! Please dress in old clothes in case this activity gets a bit messy–and bring a small container with a tight lid to take your slime home without getting it everywhere. Spaces are limited for this so if you can’t make it after registering, please let us know so we can open it up to someone else.
Please register here. Parents, please plan on staying in the library with your child during this event.
“Pyjama Party Drop In” – 1:30-3:30pm, All Ages—Don’t forget to wear your jammies to this fun afternoon of crafts and activities! There is no specific age group for this so we’ll have something for everyone. Parents, as with all Drop In programs, please plan on staying in the library with your child as this will be a mostly self-directed event.
Wednesday, August 2
“Storytime at the Library” – 10am, Ages 2-5 — It’s another fun storytime aimed at kids who like books, songs, and love to laugh. No registration necessary!
“Jurassic Juniors” – 1:30pm, Ages 1-3 — Dinosaur fans will love this fun storytime hybrid aimed at toddlers who know their dinos and still love to act silly. We’ll sing songs, read books and much more. No registration is required! (Don’t worry–for those who have reached out asking for a new time for this event, we’re planning fall programs right now.)
“Weather Bingo” – 1:30-2:30, All ages — We LOVE bingo and we’re bringing it back again this week with a fun weather theme. Kids need to be able to read, and parents should plan on staying in the library with their kids although we ask that you sit and enjoy the free wifi and comfy chairs instead of being in the room with us. You’re probably going to hate all the noise anyway…
“Queer Sphere Crafting Circle” – 2-3:30pm, Ages 12-16 – If you are looking for your people and a safe, inclusive space to just create, our new Queer Sphere is perfect for you and friends who might be allies! Stop in with your own craft, or we’ll have one here for you as well–and snacks! It’s a great place to relax, kick back and meet new people!
Thursday, August 3
“Mom Meet-Up and Playdate” – 10-11am, All Ages–Moms, we know you are busy people and it’s so hard to people new friends–especially if you’re new to the area. We devised this program just to get you out of the house and give you a chance to make a new coffee buddy or playdate friend. Oh–and you can bring your kids–but this is for YOU! We’ll have some fun activities designed to get your chatting with other moms and we’ll also have things to keep the kids busy while you’re here. It’s a win-win. Don’t be nervous–we’ve got you!
“Dawn of the Dinosaurs Drop In” – 1:30-3:30pm, All Ages– It’s going to be a Dino-friendly day! Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time–we’ll have lot of things for your kids to do if they love dinosaurs. Parents, please plan on staying at the library with your child as this will be a mostly self-directed afternoon.
Friday, August 4
“Storytime at Waterside Retirement Community” – 10am, Ages 2-5–We’re meeting again at the Waterside Retirement Community at 105 McNeely Ave for our last Intergenerational Storytime of the summer. Please plan on wearing a mask as the location still requires masking for outsiders. We’ll meet in the lobby and read books, sing songs and maybe even enjoy a little snack provided by Waterside!
Please register here. If you know you will not be able to make it, please let us know so we can fill the spot with someone else.
“Mythical Creature Art Table Drop In” – 1:30-3:30pm, All ages –This will be a fun afternoon of crafting, games, an I Spy and other fun activities for all ages. Stay a few minutes or come for the whole time–parents, please plan on staying in the library while your child is here as this will be a mostly self-directed activity.
We have lots more fun coming up next week!
