Next week, we’ll have lots of fun going on at the library! If you haven’t taken part in one of our summer activities, why not? Find out all the details below!

Monday, July 10

“Farmyard Fun Drop In” – 1:30-3:30pm, All Ages – No, we won’t have actual farm animals inside the library, but we’re excited about this fun afternoon of farm-themed activities for all ages. Do a craft, try the I Spy,  or play a game–we’ll have lots for everyone to do! Parents, please plan on staying with your child during any of our drop-in events at the library as your child might only want to take part for a few minutes–or maybe they’ll spend lots of time trying everything out. Since the activities will be mostly self-directed, parental help will definitely be required for the younger set.

Tuesday, July 11

“Drama Games and Improv” – 10-11am, Ages 6-9 — Our own thespian-in-residence Katie has prepared a really fun morning event for kids who are interested in trying some acting. They’ll experiment with acting on the spot, creating characters, and they’ll definitely have a lot of fun! No acting experience required!  Parents with children under the age of 8 are required to stay in the library for programs.

“Arctic Adventure Drop In” – 1:30-3:30, All ages – It might be hot outside, but we’ll be channeling the cold arctic air and frosty activities inside the library today. Parents, please plan on staying with your child during drop-in events as they will be mostly self-directed and your child may only want to stay a few minutes.

Wednesday, July 12

“Storytime at the Library” – 10am, Ages 2-5 — It’s another fun storytime for kids at the library! We’ll read some fun books and get the kids up and moving. There will even be a fun craft for them to take home at the end of the session! No registration required.

“Jurassic Juniors” – 1:30pm, Ages 1-3 — Join us for a fun dino-themed storytime event for toddlers who love to roar and stomp! No registration required!

“Museum Tour” – 1:30-2:30, Ages 7-11 — Registration is required for this fun tour of the Carleton Place & Beckwith Heritage Museum at 267 Edmund Street in Carleton Place. You’ll meet us there and we’ll have a great tour of the Museum which is hosting a special summer exhibit celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Carleton Place High School. See some old yearbooks, hear about the fantastic football teams of the past, and maybe even find out something fun about your parents and their graduating class! Spaces are limited, so please register early.  Parents are asked to stay with children who are 7 years old.

“Queer Sphere Crafting Circle” – 2-3:30pm, Ages 12-16 – Looking for a fun, safe space that celebrates who you are? Come alone, bring a friend–whatever you like–just be prepared to have fun and meet new friends. Bring a craft if you like or do the one we’ve created—we might even have snacks!

Please register here.

Thursday, July 13

“DIY Sensory Bottle” – 10-11am, Ages 10-12 — We’ll be making fun creative bottles full of silly items today. Please bring a clean, dry plastic water bottle or small glass bottle and we’ll provide everything else. Spaces are limited so please register early—and if you can’t make it to the session, please be courteous and let us know so we can offer the space to someone else!

Please register here.

“Wizarding World Drop In” – 1:30-3:30, All Ages — Love Harry Potter? While this might not be specifically aimed at Harry Potter fans, we’re celebrating all things Wizardy this afternoon with crafts, activities and a special I Spy. Stop in for a few minutes or stay all afternoon–it’ll be magical! *Parents, please plan on staying with your children in the library as this event will be mostly self-directed and staff will not be able to spend much time with each child.

Friday, July 14

“Storytime at Waterside” – 10am, Ages 2-5–This will be our first Intergenerational Storytime event this summer at Waterside Retirement Community located at 105 McNeely Avenue. UPDATE: No masking is required now at this location!  We’ll meet in the front lobby and enjoy fun stories, songs, books, and more! There might even be a treat afterward.

“Animal Art Table Drop In” – 1:30-3:30, All Ages. For kids who love animals, we’re going to have a fun animal themed art event this afternoon with lots of fun tables filled with things to do.
