March Break 2025 heading

Looking for activities for the whole family during the March Break? Join us for a fun week for all ages at the Carleton Place Public Library!

WHEN:

Monday, March 10- Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Carleton Place Public Library. While the calendar below shows the daily activities, there will also be plenty of free-play activities happening any time you drop by that week. While there are fewer scheduled events this week than usual, it’s still going to be fun!

WHERE:

Most of the activities will take place at the library in the Kids Corner or Barbara Walsh room, but some will also take place in other parts of the library. You’ll be directed to the proper area when you arrive.

COSTS:

There are no costs for any events this week! You are welcome to attend any of our programs even if you don’t have a library card. Registration is required for some events–please see the schedule for details.

WHO:

Many activities are for all ages, but there are a few special sessions that are aimed at a specific group. All of our self-directed activities throughout the week are for all ages–everyone will enjoy the fun in their own way.

SPECIAL NOTES:

Parents should plan on staying in the library during all of the events. Most of the activities are self-directed (the child decides what activity they wish to participate in and how long they’d like to stay), and staffing will be limited. While we’d love to be able to watch every child for the entire session, it just won’t be possible.

For events with a specific age range, the activities are created with a median age in mind so that everyone has fun.

A few events require a parent (or two) in order to participate. For example, the Mini Maker session requires a parent to attend with their child as this will be information regarding the upcoming craft fair in the fall and we don’t expect a child to remember everything.

EVENTS LISTED ABOVE:

Monday heading

Mini Maker Information Session (for parents and young crafters) – Monday, March 10 – 10am

  • Our Mini Maker Craft Fair in November has proven to be a big hit with young vendors and craft fair attendees, so we’re gearing up for another event in November 2025. Come to this information session to find out what your child will have to do in order to prepare and fill out an application to register. A $5 table reservation fee is due upon submitting the application–no exceptions.  Since tables are limited, applications will be accepted upon a first-come-first served basis and then applicants will be put on a waiting list. Anyone who participated last year does not have to attend this workshop again.

I SPY Drop In – Monday, March 10 – All day, all ages

  • We’ll have a new I Spy each day of March Break with a different fun theme and different stickers as a reward.

Adult Book Club – Monday, March 10 – 6:30pm

  • If you already belong to our Adult Book Club, we’re reading THE BERRY PICKERS by Amanda Peters this month. Sorry–we can’t access any more books for new members, but if you can get your hands on a copy, we’d love to have you at this in-person meeting for a great discussion.

Participants should bring a sharp pencil and a sketchbook if they have one, but supplies will be provided for everyone just in case. Parents do not need to stay in the library for this session–feel free to drop your child off and come back, but make sure your child has contact information just in case they are ready to leave early.
