Get a Library Card

Residents of Carleton Place and Beckwith are eligible to receive a library card without charge. You may apply for a temporary card online below, then visit the library in person to get your physical card. Library cards for Carleton Place and Beckwith residents are valid for two years, unless you move. Library card renewals are required to be done in person with valid photo ID and proof of residence.

*Beginning October 1, 2021, residents of Mississippi Mills will be required to pay non-resident fees.*

Non-residents are required to pay a yearly non-resident fee. The non-resident fee is $90.00.

Children ages 13 and under must have a parent or guardian present when applying for a library card. Children ages 14 and above do not require parental consent.

Adults (14 and over) must show one piece of photo ID and proof of residency.

A valid Ontario Driver’s License is acceptable as a single proof. In other cases, acceptable identification and proof of current address are required.

To replace or renew your card, please visit the library. There is a $2.00 fee to replace a lost card, payable in cash.

Library Board Meetings and Minutes

Unless otherwise stated, the Board of the Carleton Place Public Library meets the third Wednesday of every month, excluding July and December, in the Barbara Walsh Room at 7:00 pm.  Meetings are open to the public.  If you would like to speak at a Library Board meeting, please contact Meriah Caswell at (613) 257-2702 or mcaswell@carletonplace.ca to arrange a delegation.  Delegations are limited to 15 minutes.

Library Board meetings are currently offered in person and virtually. All meetings are open to the public. If you would like to attend an upcoming meeting virtually, please contact Meriah Caswell at mcaswell@carletonplace.ca for a Zoom link in advance of the meeting.

Minutes of Board meetings will be posted here for twelve months after they have been approved.  Minutes of older meetings can be requested at the library circulation desk.

Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary Loans let you borrow items from other libraries that are not in our collection.

To place a request you can fill in a pink request form available at the library.

Some items are not available through Interlibrary Loans, such as material published within the last year, reference material, school textbooks and most audio/visual material (including DVDs, CDs, Audiobooks, and CD-ROMS). If you are seeking these, or microfilm, please contact ILL@carletonplace.ca.
